Fiber Features is an image segmentation and automatic measurement software for the characterization of anthropogenic microfibers. Its design was based on a study that used digital image processing techniques to identify anthropogenic microfibers present in the gastrointestinal tract of juvenile whitemouth croaker from a database of digital photographs. The main contribution of this study was the optimization of manual identification time and independence from operator bias. Furthermore, it provides an objective characterization of fiber aging through a technique that utilizes an indicator associated with the lengths measured along the fiber.
